STRUCTURE AND MECHANICS

Spindles manufactured to latest
design specification and developed in collaboration
with a leading bearing manufacturer ensuring
excellent performance levels with minimal
maintenance.

The moving side of the double
edger is positioned by high precision, tempered rack
and pinion, sliding on steel guides which are
automatically lubricated, ensuring a precision
movement at all times whilst maintaining a high
degree of positional accuracy.

Wheel changeover is very fast and
the tool is secured to the spindle by a single nut
which is easily accessable to the operator through a
single command entered through the personel
computer/plc.

The numerical control controls all
5 axes of the machine. All machine guides are heavy
duty to ensure and maintain high tolerance levels at
all times.

ELECTRONICS AND
SOFTWARE
The entire machine is controlled by a personal
computer connected to a PLC. The LCD display (13'')
provides the operator with a high definition display
detailing each axes position, number of meters processed
and the position of each piece within the machine.
The Software developed in Windows by the Bottero
Automation Department, allows an exchange of data with
other production machines or office (personel computer/mainframe
network). It is possible to fit an optional optical
sensor to read processing data ie, dimensions, polish/ground
only or corner dubbing. This information can be included
within a bar-code therefore reducing operator set-up
time.
The personel computer allows the operator to simulate
the production cycle, providing more efficient
production planning. The
machine software will support processes after the edging
operation by transferring data relative to the
production run. The machine software will interface with
Client's office(personel computer network , local net)
or remote access(modem). The
wheel ammeters which monitor the performance of the
wheels are positioned within easy access/viewing by the
operator. The
location of the machine console allows all the machine
functions to be constantly checked even if the group
comprises of two double edgers and a transfer unit.

USE AND MAINTENANCE
The fully automatic
lubrication system ensures minimal downtime caused
manual lubrication maintenance.
Alarm messages appear on
the screen in the event of operator setting errors,
avoiding damage to the machine or glass.
The position of the glass in the machine and the number
of meters processed by each wheel are always displayed
on the PC display, thereby ensuring efficient use and
easy wheel wear monitoring.
